Can I count down to a date I choose, not just a holiday?
Yes — pick "A date I choose" and enter any date. The countdown works the same way: days, hours, minutes and seconds until midnight (in your local time zone) on that date.
Why does the number depend on my time zone?
Because a countdown is inherently about "how long until that moment arrives for you," which is a real point in time, not just a calendar date — unlike the other calculators on this site, which deal in calendar days and are the same everywhere. This page uses your device's clock and local time zone.
What happens after the date passes?
The counter switches to showing time elapsed since that date instead of time remaining, so you can leave the same page open across the moment itself.
